I have a great life, what more can I say. I'm not doing well at this blogging thing but I finally feel like I have more to talk about so here is an update.
Vegas Baby
We hit the road on Friday, March 18th for sunny St. George at 1:00 and made it by 7:00. Evan even let me drive. From Nephi to St. George, I was pretty excited. I drove in silence thinking of new birthday songs because I need a new on before July 1st. (I absolutely hate the traditional birthday song!). We didn't have hotel reservations in St. George so we packed a tent and sleeping bag just in case. We checked out Quail Creek for camping and saw that we had 2 hours to "shop" for a hotel in St. George or make it back to Quail Creek before they locked us out.
The hunt was on and what an adventure. We stopped at every cheap looking Motel on the Vard (Evan says that's short for Boulevard). Of course Evan had to go it alone talking to each of the Indian owners as he wanted the single rate room. Don't judge us, we had to spend a lot more for the next night stay in Las Vegas, we needed to save our money. After oh.... 6 motels we turned around and settled for the one that didn't have a huge water leak, or a box for the TV stand. Of course that's just the report I would get back from Evan as we jumped into the car and raced to the next place. Evan made me laugh every time he would jump back into the car with a smart remark. He said he felt like Joseph trying to find room at the INN. We settled for the Sands Motel, it was beautiful with a red orange wall, two very firm double beds, a midget toilet too low to sit on, and a wall that was almost see through to our 3 foot backyard with a wonderful 10 foot high cinderblock wall. I didn't know if it was safe to sleep on the bed or even touch very much in the motel, I thought I might take something with me I didn't want, so we set up the double sleeping bag and used our own pillows and blankets. I'm so grateful my mom and dad have always taught me to be prepared.
Enough of that. We ate at the delicious Pizza Factory and then hit Wal-Mart (I had to cave because everything else was closed). I couldn't breathe in the motel room because it smelled like old water and Indian cooking. After our adventure at Wal-Mart we meet up with Evan's old friend and headed back to our exciting night at the Sands Motel. Evan slept with his 9 mm next to the bed and I stayed as close to him as I could. We woke up to pouring ran and headed for Vegas.
Vegas was great. We ate the lunch Buffet at the Luxor. I probably ate 5 full meals in one and looked like I was about 9 months pregnant. I got a lot of looks in Las Vegas as we walked the strip. No one ever really looked at me but at my belly. It was weird. I even had people comment. We had time to lay out at the Excalibur pool which was super nice with 3 big pools and oh I don't know 5 hot tubes. I was way too cold to get in but Evan of course hit the hot tub. Saturday night we hung out with Randy Reeder. That was a lot of fun. We went to a piano bar in one of the casinos and it reminded me of our cruise to Mexico. We slept great in our king size bed at the Excalibur hotel and had an amazing view of the strip from our 19th story room. Sunday we headed home and stopped in St. George for a little Sunday nap. The weather was finally amazing, but of course, I got to hot in the sun so we started driving some more.
All in all it was a great trip and so nice to have my husband all to myself. I get jealous of the boys on our weekends to Salt Lake because Evan plays with them so much. But it was great timing for a vacation in the care before my belly gets too big and I get too uncomfortable.
Okay, next topic. You should probably take a break for a minute.
You know I have a lot of school work when.....
1. My house is clean
2. I'm on facebook
3. I write an email
4. I finally post on blog spot
I have one more month of my college career before I walk down that isle and finally leave it all behind.
Things I won't miss about college
- Old Main hill
- Freshmen and dress to impress Apex guys
- Attending lectures that I could have taught myself
- Writing a paper once, then rewriting it 3 more times
- Walking in the freezing cold wind coming from the canyon that lasts from October to May
- The parking at Utah State
- Paying for Paper printouts even if nothing was printed on them
- Losing my Student Id card and paying 20 dollars for a new one then getting an email about my old on 3 days later (PS you can't do anything on campus or for classes without your ID card)
- Going to the bookstore and deciding what books I can try to do without
Baby Update
By the end of this week I will be 27 weeks along or in other words, on April 1st I will have just 3 more months to grow this babe. It's going so fast and it's nothing like I expected. The baby is moving, jumping, kicking, rolling, and punching more than I ever imagined. It wakes me up in the morning and loves to roll around just before bed. I think it gets the most active at night when Evan and I are finally home and get to talk and play. Evan is the sweetest thing to watch when he just holds my tummy and talks to the baby. He gets so excited when he feels him move and makes this little sound like he just felt a miracle. It's amazing how powerful those little movements can be. We can even lay there in bed and watch my tummy rumble, shake, or slowly move from one side to the other. It still feels unreal that we're really going to have our own little baby in just 3 months. I don't feel old enough to be a real life mom. Even though I starting pretending to be a mom and loved babies are early as I can remember and never really stopped.
Kids Klub
Henley and Beck are two of the cutest kids on earth. Evan adores them and gets to see them every day at the Sports Academy. When I started my internship there at the Kids Klub, Beck and Henley became my little shadows. Henley is the princess of all princesses; she's 4 but seems like a 12 year old. When I finally started to show, Henley was the first one to let me know. "Lara, your baby is growing". Now every week she says it but it seems to come with more and more surprise in her tone. One day the baby was kicking like crazy so I was holding my tummy, Henley looks at my hand and moves it aside and puts her little hand in its place. She looked up at me and said I can feel it (she didn't really but it was adorable). Today Beck saw Henley touching my belly as I was explaining to her that sometimes my whole tummy gets hard just because, Beck ran over and put his little almost 2 year old hand right on my belly and just smiled. They are so much fun and I'm so lucky to get to play with them while I'm at work. When I was off work today Beck wouldn't let me leave so I had to stay an extra 20 minutes until his mom came. He also calls me Rah wah and chants it all day as he walks around kids klub. Another little boy in Kids Klub, who's probably 6, must have heard Beck because all day today he was calling me Rah Wah too. I couldn't correct him.
I've worked 275 free hours at the Kids Klub and I'm one week away from being done. Today my supervisor asked me if I'd like the stay there and become a Payroll Employee. I gladly accepted and will finally get paid more than my measssly hours as a nanny (although I'm so lucky she pays me so well). This job will be great because I'll get 6 weeks off for maternity leave and only have to work 4 hours a day and can take the babe with me.
Oh my heavens! So not fair that you are already 27 weeks and I haven't been able to see your belly grow!!! I just can't believe you are actually that far along cause I haven't been around to see it. Love that you are getting so close though! Can't wait to meet your precious babe! And congrats on getting hired at your internship!!! That's so so GREAT and sounds like it will be a perfect mommy job! Love you BFF!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Love that you got to go to Vegas. Sounds like a blast. Andy has been begging me to go. haha.
