October Events

Our Outrageous October

We had a lot of adventures in October starting with Evan's White Coat Ceremony at Midwestern University. I didn't know what to expect for his "White Coat Ceremony" on Friday October 5th but I'm so glad I went. I am so proud of Evan and all his accomplished to get this far. He's been working super hard in school, is doing great on all his tests, papers, and presentations, and still makes time to play with Josh and make his wife Happy. All the Evan wives sat together which helped me with Josh and his antsy 15 month busy body. There was a great speech about all the students and their new lives that start now as a health professional and their amazing impact on the lives they will help in their career. Looking at all the students at the end of the ceremony in their white coats was pretty cool, especially seeing Evan in his white coat. I'm so proud of you Evan!

Josh was literally yelling at Evan. He's loud, just like his dad.... and emotional like his mom

The next and most exciting part of our month was Grandma and Grandpa Phillips coming to visit. We've been anticipating their visit for weeks. Josh and I went to the Airport to meet mom and dad and took them to their hotel an hour in the middle outside of Phoenix. It was fun for me to explore a new place. Grandpa Spotted a "geyser" almost a mile off the highway in what seemed to be the middle of no where so we asked the waitress and found the fountain in a little lake which was actually huge for the middle of the desert. That was cool. I wish I had my camera but alas. That Saturday Mom and Dad took us to the Sea Life Aquarium in Tempe. I love it there. So many cool fish so close to look at. Josh really loved looking at the fish and actually noticed a lot more this time when we went in April. One part where you walk through a tunnel of glass (even the floor was glass) Josh kept looking at his feet wondering what was underneath him. He usually doesn't stay in one place very long but that sure did captivate his curiosity.

After a Crazy busy week of school the Evan's sacrificed a few hours so we could go to the Arizona State Fair. Geez it was huge. There were so many food stands it all smelled pretty good. As good as deep fried can smell. We were good and didn't indulge. Well, there was no way I wanted to pay the outrageous prices anyways. We only spent $4 for the whole fair. Admission was 2 Dollars each.

Can you believe Deep Fried Butter. What is our world coming to? No wonder children are obese
Gigantic Insect Displays, they even moved. There was 6 or 7 different insects. Weird
The Butterflies were super cool. One landed on my head and I freaked. Josh tried to eat them if they flew by him.
Of course Josh loved the Petting Zoo. They even had a Kangaroo, Josh was done taking pictures and holding still by that point of course.

We road a free shuttle bus from the capitol building. Awesome. This is Joshua's buddy Kavik. They play great together.

Such twins.

Halloween Parties!!!!

We had 3 Halloween parties this past weekend. Friday was a outside Carnival at Evan's School. Josh loved walking around to all the offices and picking out candy. He's put everything straight in his mouth, wrapper and all. He was satisfied after the first building so I had to keep dragging him on. Finally he just sat down and wouldn't give me his hand and put his two candy bars in his mouth. I only gave him one opened candy bar, the was in heaven. It was so fun to watch josh walk through all the people to get to the candy or just to explore. It was so hard to keep up with him. He's such a curious little boy and he'll walk up to anybody and just stare at them until they notice him. Josh played in the bounce house and went down the big slide with daddy.
Josh is giving Ethan a Kiss on the Head.
After the crowds of people left and only PT students were left to clean up, the boys had a ball on the slide

Jarom and Heidi brought the kids and stayed at our house Friday night. We love when they come to visit because all the girls adore Josh. He likes to watch them and loved getting all the attention. They got to come with us to our Ward Halloween Party Saturday night. There were a lot of people and everyone gets really into their costumes. Josh even played most of the games. He went fishing, did a cake walk, played ring toss, and bucket ball. He's getting so big. He was so cute running around with his cap blowing in the wind. Josh loved the Trunk-or-Treat, Although he never wanted to let go of the candy and put it in his bag, he just wanted to hold on to it. All his chocolate is melted and crunched in a little fist.
Evan's costume was super easy. We borrowed Joshua's costume from Ethan and my costume took way too long to sew. I hope you don't have to question who I am. It's poison Ivy.

 Cousin James, the Pirate
Josh loves to color. He tries to take pens of the counter without me seeing and he sneaks into his room. He's body has been his canvas twice. Not to bad eh? The second time was a pen I didn't know about on the top shelf of Evan's school stuff. At least it was he drew on something washable right.
Curious George Won a prize for best dressed family. Heidi made all the costumes by herself.

Josh does things every week that amaze me. At Kavik's Birthday/Halloween party tonight (Monday)He found a camera and put it up to his eye to take a picture. For a few weeks now he demands to carry the keys once we're outside the house. He knows and is able to put the key in the car door and unlock the door. He also like to carry around the dirty diapers. I've only taken him with me once to throw away a diaper (I don't throw them in the huge dumpster until he's in bed or Evan takes them) But he knew which path to take on the side walk to the the dumpster. It's amazing how fast he's learning. I didn't take any pictures at Kavik's Party tonight but we had a great time. Chellese made a lot of adorable Halloween food and decorated her apartment super cute. All in all we had a wonderful month full of fun events, We're very excited for November. Evan's quarter will be done in a week and a half and we'll be flying to Ogden on the 11th. We get to spend 2 whole weeks at home and I know the time will fly by. We're  so excited to see all our nieces and nephews and even more excited to see Josh play with his cousins.

  1. Great post! I loved all the pictures and updates. Your costumes were great too. You look so different in a red wig, it was weird to see you without brown hair. Seeing your pics of a bouncy house made me want to go find one and jump around for awhile. I love bouncy toys!
